2008 WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Natural Dye Day: July 20th and August 23rd

Adults and children are welcome to participate in a day of native color.
If you're a long time dyer and fiber lover, you can come to make use of 6 different large dye vats, including native plants, and a fermentation bath.
Just call ahead to let me know what your bringing. If you're a new comer to natural dying, there will be fabric swatches from organic cotton to
vegan silk for you to experiment with. If you're interested in felting, knitting or weaving, there will be un-dyed local wool roving and yarns for you
to purchase and work with.
Suggested Donation for the Day 40.00
Children participate for free.
Earth Day Weekend: Native Plant Walk, Papermaking, Ecological Landscaping
April 19th , 20th
Begins at 11am
at the Bay Area Discovery Museum
Parents and Children are welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the Bay Area Discovery Museum. The Native Plant walk will include a survey of the Coast Miwok experience in the Fort Baker region, followed by a native plant/seed papermaking event. A presentation of native plant landscaping ideas, and free garden goodies for early arrivals will be available.

Children will learn to work with native local plants to make dyes, paper, and fiber. We will explore natural building, weaving, and felting, all within the Fort Baker landscape at the edge of the Bay. The day is balanced between activities that stimulate the mind, support the body, and enhance a sense of community between children and their teacher. Using story, movement games, time outside, and hands-on activities, children are joyfully engaged and leave with a sense of accomplishment, and confidence.

Ecological Arts Summer Camp: Hosted Through Sustainable Fairfax
August 18th -22nd
Children will have a week with artists and teachers Mia Andler and Rebecca Burgess, hosted in the Sustainable Fairfax Gardens . We will explore the landscape from which we gather our art materials. Taking the time to connect to the web of our local ecosystem using tracking skills and native wisdom as our foundation. We will move into making our own paints, dyes, paper, and paintbrushes, and investigate all that can be created from the natural resources of our bountiful community.
